UNDERSTANDING THE TIMES: SALLY BOOK 1: 13

When Sally woke up in the morning, she felt to have had the time of her life and that the evening was one to remember for a long time. She however didn’t rate John high ‘in the other room’; to her, maybe the slack was from the too much alcohol of last night. Sally had to hurry because she had to be home on time, the last thing she needed was her mother poke nosing into her business. Her mother owned a five star hotel and was always busy. She had a shower, dressed up and left her number on a piece of paper next to John’s phone. On the drive home, Sally fell into her usual depression, she was young and naïve, but not stupid and over time there was lack of attention and love from her mother and her father; who was away in another country trying to make more money. She needed love and because of her depression and mental state, sex was a way to get that love and attention, it made her feel alive, She was not a big achiever but what she lacked in intelligence, she had gained from experience to be very street smart.

The Uber pulled up at her Home, a family mansion in the DECO area of Warri, Delta state. Her father; a traditional chief, is a ‘money bag’ billionaire in the oil rich city of Warri. Money didn’t inspire her because it was not a problem for her, she was at a constant struggle with the mind; she had been abused several times and all of which had messed up her heart so much that she had begun to lack any form of feeling or believe in the reality or responsibility of men, she had to rely on drugs, from tramadol to rohypnol to abuse of prostaglandins and ibuprofens just to cope with the emptiness and pain and of course to prevent pregnancy. As the gateman opened the gates, she walked into the compound while remembering one of her many experiences including an amorous affair that had her have an abortion at 16; She had met this young man at an early age and because of neglect from her parents, she would eventually get pregnant after a few sexual encounters, she knew what she had to do, she decided against the pregnancy not just because of the shame but also because she couldn’t bear to think of the setback to sexual exploitations  that having a child could effect. She had gotten a recommendation from a friend and also assistance from a few other friends who somehow had access to the necessary drugs. She bled a lot from the effect of the drug, and continued bleeding for a few more days, she thought she would die; but to her, it was either she killed or was killed; her innocence was lost forever.
